Coaching with (not as) AI: Ethics, Impact, and Practical Workflows
Please login first to register as an ICF NYC Member!
Join Ruth Pearce, JD, PCC, PMP for a pragmatic, hype-free tour of how AI can responsibly enhance coaching without replacing the coach. We’ll ground the conversation in ICF ethics, explore real use cases (intake synthesis, prep, reflection, accountability), and map clear boundaries—what AI can and cannot do in a coaching relationship. Expect a short live demo, micro-case discussions, and a simple decision framework you can take back to clients and sponsors. You’ll leave with sample disclosure/consent language, a privacy checklist, and a starter prompt kit to speed prep while protecting trust. Designed for internal and external coaches, leaders who coach, and program owners evaluating AI tools.
Learning Objectives (you will be able to…)
- Draw ethical boundaries: Distinguish when AI is an assistive tool versus a substitute for coaching—and align choices with the ICF Code of Ethics and Core Competencies.
- Build a safe workflow: Implement a lightweight, AI-assisted coaching workflow (intake synthesis → session prep → reflection notes) without exposing client confidentiality.
- Assess risk & privacy: Use the ICF quick privacy/security checklist to reduce legal and reputational risk and measure readiness to use AI..
- Apply judgment on the spot: Use a 6-question AI decision checklist to resolve common dilemmas from case studies (bias, dependency, scope creep, “AI as co-coach”).
