    2 Secret Listening Strategies

    To Enhance Coaches’ Active Listening

Active listening often is hailed as the hallmark of listening, but active listening isn’t enough. Listening is a cognitive activity and recent research (Bodie et al., 2020) has identified the 4 Listening Habits. Learn how to use cognitive listening habits with active listening to increase your coaching effectiveness. After all, when coaches listen well, they hear more, and they change more lives.  What could be better than that?

    Summary Details

    When: October 4th, 2022

    Presenters:

    • Dr. Laura Janusik, Owner, Listening to Change, LLC

Format: Virtual - Zoom Meeting, cameras will be enabled

    CCEUs:1.5 (1.5 core competency)

Who is this event for: Coaches or individuals wanting to listen well, hear more, and change more lives.  What could be better than that?

    The Event

Purpose: Listening is a cognitive activity and recent research (Bodie et al., 2020) has identified the 4 Listening Habits. Learn how to use cognitive listening habits with active listening to increase your coaching effectiveness.

Objective: Many people believe Active Listening is the answer; however, it’s only part of the answer! Listening is primarily a cognitive activity, but it is perceived behaviorally. We’ve all fake listened at one time or another, yet others thought we were listening. The same happens to us on a regular basis.

    Learning elements:

    • Participants will understand that listening is a habit over which individuals have control

    • Participants will identify their own dominant listening habits and listening blind spots

    • Participants will practice one to two strategies to create shared meaning

Outcomes: By the end of the session, attendees will have learned and practiced at least one listening solution that is designed to create shared meaning.

Creating Change Through Cognitive Behavioral Coaching Strategies

Understanding the link between mental models and behaviors

Come join us for an evening of connection, support, and fun. As coaches and entrepreneurs, it can feel isolating working on our own sometimes. Think of our monthly meeting as the go-to place to tap into the power of the group for growing our coaching businesses.

In our Mastermind-like format, each participant receives time to be supported and be accountable for their committed actions. We’re a community of compassionate and diverse coaches here to share ideas, resources, and insights. And of course, new participants are welcome!

We usually meet at a co-working space in Manhattan but have moved all of our in-person events virtually for now. This is a great opportunity for you to experience different groups from the comfort of your home, and continue to be part of our ICF NYC community. The Zoom link will be sent via email after you register.

Facilitated by: Yayoi Komiyama and Matthew Pearson

This is a member-only event and member registration is complimentary.
