Message from the President

Earthquakes, heat waves, and hurricanes—what a month we've had! I hope you survived your summer and managed to squeeze in a few totally unforgettable moments of fun. And now that we're all rested, we can tackle the remainder of the year.

Include ICF-NYC in your plans. We have a fantastic speaker for this month's meeting—Rachel Hott—who is going to tell us all about NLP and show us brand new ways to communicate. See the details below. And don't forget to tune in our radio show (Coach Chat) and our television show (Coach World TV) because we have some great guests scheduled for September (see the sidebar for information).

If you're heading for the ICF Global Conference in Vegas, please let us know. We'd love to get together with you! And maybe borrow a few quarters. Las Vegas, New York City, or wherever you are—let's all continue to bring the powerful message of coaching to everyone we encounter. Changing the world one person at a time. What a mission!

ICF-NYC Monthly Meeting
Photo of Rachel B. Hott

Wednesday, 9/21/11, 6:00pm - 8:30pm

Topic: NLP—A More Effective Way to Communicate
(2 CCEU's granted to attendees)

Presenter: Rachel B. Hott, PhD; NLP Certified Master Practitioner & Trainer

What if you could ask a simple question, and in addition to getting an answer, you learn how your client is thinking, feeling and behaving? It will be a snap after this meeting! Rachel B. Hott, PhD, is sharing tools of one of the best communication technologies to influence thoughts, feelings and behaviors—Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).

  • How do you best learn?
  • How do you know when you have done a good (great) job?
  • What is important to you about coaching?

By observing how someone answers these questions, you can discover their individual unique behaviors in communication. Now you can find out how it all works—our neurology represents the way we think and perceive. Our language represents the way we experience our subjective reality. Our programming is like software and can be changed with simple elegant tools. Come and learn some rewiring—it could improve your communication skills and the ones you use with your clients.

Dr. Rachel B. Hott, has a Ph.D in clinical psychology and is a certified master practitioner and trainer of Neuro-Linguistic Programming. She is a Board Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist and holds a master degree for Dance/Movement Therapy. Rachel has been a course leader for American Management Association and a private consultant for executives. She has been trained by Jack Canfield to facilitate self-esteem trainings.

In addition to NLP, she includes Thought Field Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Self-Relations in her therapeutic repertoire. Rachel is also authorized and endorsed by NLP Comprehensive to conduct Core Transformation® workshops. Rachel has written numerous articles for Anchor Point magazine. Rachel is hired by corporations to lead communication effectiveness training.

Groundbreaking Research Study

Take part in a new and groundbreaking coaching research study.

The International Coach Federation (ICF) has commissioned independent research firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) to conduct the 2011 ICF Global Coaching Study, a comparison study to its landmark coaching study that provided a global perspective on the coaching profession for the first time nearly five years ago.

The first ICF Global Coaching Study, conducted in 2006, determined there were no fewer than 30,000 professional coaches worldwide and that the profession generated at least $1.5 billion (USD) in revenue. It provided statistics on what coaches earn, the fees coaches charge, coach demographics, leading coaching specialties, and much more useful data that has since been referenced in reports and media articles around the world.

With the 2011 study, the ICF aims to track key trends that have emerged during the global recession and to bring the global landscape of coaching in 2011 into clear focus. The data collected from coaches around the world will produce a "state of the industry" report that will provide the profession, other organizations and the media with an opportunity to learn more about the professional coaching.

The ICF invites all coaches to complete the study's online survey, presently available in English. Other languages will be available online in the coming weeks. The following link will direct you to the secure site being hosted by PwC; thus, ICF will not have access to any of your individual information.

Visit www.CoachingStudy2011.com to participate in the 2011 ICF Global Coaching Study and spread the word to other coaches by forwarding them this survey link. All participants will receive an advance copy of an Executive Summary based on study findings early next year.
