Message from the Vice President
What Has ICF-NYC Done For You Lately?

Summer whizzed by, and as we all begin to rev up for the last four months of 2008, this seems like an ideal time to review the benefits of being an ICF-NYC member. An organization that works for us while we fill up our schedules, make and meet new goals, and participate in the never-enough-time holiday seasons is exactly what we all can use in our busy lives. Let me count some of the ways that ICF-NYC membership can support you:
  • Association in the largest metropolitan ICF chapter in the world and no local membership dues. Just designate our ICF-NYC chapter as your chapter of choice with ICF national.
  • Monthly meetings that offer today's leading coaches, business people, and topics at a reduced rate for members. Our speakers for September and October, Lillian Coury and Arlene Rosenberg, (see below) are coming from the West Coast, and next year we're going international!
  • Special events, workshops, and gatherings where you can hone your coaching skills, learn new business techniques, and network with peers and potential clients, again at a reduced rate for members. Katherine Poehnert, back by popular demand, will conduct a full-day workshop, From Design to Delivery...A Guide to Creating Powerful and Persuasive Presentations on October 4, 2008.
  • The Coaches Connection, a monthly support/networking group that focuses on expanding your coaching business, discussing challenging coach/client situations, and exchanging coaching tools.
  • Participation in the Speakers Bureau which is designed to increase the visibility of local coaches.
  • A monthly newsletter jam-packed with information and resources, as well as the opportunity to advertise your own classes and workshops at a reduced rate.
  • One of the most sophisticated ICF websites around. That includes the opportunity to have an Enhanced Listing for a nominal fee.
  • A Members Resource Page where vendors and service contractors offer special discounts to ICF-NYC members.
  • A popular prime time Cable show, Life Coach TV, which airs weekly and features topics and people of interest to coaches. Let me know if you'd like to be a guest!
  • A dedicated Board of Directors that works diligently to bring you what you tell us you need to enhance your coaching skills and expand your businesses.
  • And then, there are always the free snacks at our meetings!
Check out our website, www.icfnyc.org, to get more details about ICF-NYC and any of the services or benefits listed above. See you at the next meeting!

APT-NYC Monthly Event
Thursday, September 25, 2008; 5:30pm - 8:30pm

Topic: Turning on the Power of Type Development with the Eight-Function Model

Presenter: Mark Hunziker

The dynamics of personality type describe the road to normal personal growth that takes us toward psychological maturity. But the type model can be difficult to apply. How can the depth of information contained within Jung's model be used more easily and effectively to promote personal growth? Is there a basic "application" that can turn on the power of type development in people's daily lives? Recent focus on the eight mental processes of type has, in fact, revealed such a tool.

This workshop will give you an opportunity to:
  • Understand the eight-function model of personality type more clearly; how and when to use it; and how it can deepen your understanding of type development.
  • Experience how type "differentiation" can promote flexibility, balance, and personal growth.
  • Be introduced to a versatile tool for type professionals that enhances the model's usefulness in a wide range of situations.
Location: 105 East 22nd Street, Room 4A, (NE Corner of Park Ave. South) NYC

Cost: Pre-registered by September 19, 2008 - Members $25.00, Non-members $35.00
After September 19, 2008: Members $35.00, Non-members $45.00
