Message from the President

Okay, taxes are behind us, spring is right around the corner, and ICF-NYC is getting ready for a couple of months of learning and having fun—my favorite combination. So far this year we have discovered the power of hypnosis, the use of change to become an effective leader, our ColorQ analysis, and innovative ways to remove and redefine stress. For good measure, we threw in a workshop on coaching through fear and a webinar on creating your coaching business. And we're just getting started! |

This month we offer you an opportunity to play the coaching game that is taking over the international coaching world—Points of You. You will leave with a challenged brain, new coaching techniques, and insights galore. See details below. Speaking of brains...we will be exploring the hot topic of 2010, neuroscience of the brain, at our June meeting. And remember—most of our meetings and workshops provide you with the coveted Continuing Coaching Education Units (CCEU's) that sometimes cost hundreds of dollars to obtain. You can get the same thing for the registration fee of an ICF-NYC meeting. Our goal this year is to sharpen your coaching skills and expand your coaching toolkits. We are working very hard to bring you cutting-edge information and keep you updated on what's happening around the world in coaching. What makes this experience so rewarding is being able to do it with you. We are building a community of coaches and a chapter that continues to be recognized as one of the most influential and successful in the world. If you haven't renewed your ICF membership yet, now is the time. Let's march into the future together changing the world as we go. Renew here. | |
ICF-NYC Monthly Meeting
|
Wednesday, 5/19/10, 6:00pm - 8:30pm Topic: POINTS OF YOU, The Coaching Game Presenter: Limor Tamir, International Workshop Facilitator, US Representative of Points of You, The Coaching Game |
For the last two years a new game called Points of You has been getting a lot of attention and taking the coaching world by storm. At the 2008 and 2009 ICF Conferences the never-before-seen board game was swamped with interested coaches and ended up making the most sales of any booth there. Gaining popularity at an amazing rate, this fabulous tool for coaches, executives, psychologists, and workshop instructors is now available in Israel, the United States, Germany, Sweden, Australia, and other countries. It has also been produced in several languages.
Come and find out what all the excitement is about. Join us on May 19th for an interactive and fun experiential presentation that will challenge your traditional way of thinking. Participants will leave this event with:
- An insightful new goal and a dynamic action plan to reach it
- A myriad of thought-provoking, eye-opening tools and games you can use yourself and with your clients
- A shared learning adventure with other coaches who want to work with cutting-edge tools

Your Brain on Change
June 7, 2010 • 6:15-7:00pm Networking, 7:00-8:30pm Lecture, 8:30-9:00pm Q&APresenter: Dr. David Rock
Location: Embassy Suites, 102 North End Ave, NYC (Take the A, C, 2, 3 to Chambers St.)
Change is hard. New research is beginning to explain why it's so hard, and how change can happen more easily. However to achieve this we may need to rethink many accepted paradigms, as brain research is uncovering a series of surprises about human functioning. Many of our entrenched ideas turn out to be incorrect.
In this surprising session, David will illustrate:
- How we over-estimate the importance and capacity of logical thinking
- How insights occur in the brain
- How we get emotions back to front
- Why it's so hard to collaborate with others
- How change does occur in the brain
Cost:$45 online; $55 at the door
