Message from the President

The feedback was unanimously positive on Larry Sharpe's U-Based Sales Approach at our April meeting. To see what some of the 40+ participants said about his program, go to the Events page of our web site. The next day I practiced what I had learned from Larry and converted two prospects into clients!

You told us at our Town Hall meeting in January that you, our members, want to focus on growing a successful coach practice and we listened. We continue that journey with our co-sponsorship of A Day of Marketing at Columbia University on Friday May 16, 2008. A group of marketing and sales experts has been assembled to help you create an integrated marketing approach to grow your business. We negotiated a special rate for ICF-NYC members - visit our Events page to learn more. Demand is so great that an additional day (May 17) has been added. You will receive 7.5 CEU credits from the ICF for attending this event.

We are excited to announce that Michelle Schubnel, coming to us from California, will be our guest for our May 21, 2008 meeting. Michelle's internationally popular program, Coach and Grow R.I.C.H. is recognized by many as a fantastic way to grow your business. And Michelle has agreed to do an all day workshop on June 21, 2008 on Master Client Enrollment - Rapidly Increase Your Client Base. Register now, as space will be limited!

In between the exciting events from Michelle, Brenda Smith of Peoplesmith Global, Inc., will be the presenter at our June meeting. Her Business Case for Coaching in Organizations is invaluable for Executive Coaches or anyone who has ever considered becoming an executive coach. And as a bonus, if you have a potential or current corporate client, you can bring them to the meeting free of charge.

Finally, as one of the fastest growing chapters in the world, I was asked by ICF National to write an article for the upcoming May edition of Coach World focusing on how we are achieving this rapid growth. Be sure to check it out. You may be in the picture being used from one of our monthly meetings!

ICF-NYC Monthly Meeting
Wednesday, May 21, 2008; 6:00pm - 8:30pm

Topic: The Top 10 Sales Mistakes Coaches Make...And How To Avoid Them!

Presenter: Michelle Schubnel

Anyone who has ever had the opportunity to use or view the Coach and Grow R.I.C.H. Program knows what a valuable tool it is for coaches. This month's meeting brings you the coach responsible for much of its success - Michelle Schubnel. There is an old saying in business, "Nothing happens until someone sells something." Isn't this true for your coaching practice? Sales is a natural part of your business that should be easy and enjoyable. Unfortunately many coaches struggle with sales, making little mistakes that dramatically impact their results.

It doesn't have to be that way!
  • See if you are losing potential clients by the way you are offering your free/sample sessions.
  • Discover what you should and shouldn't focus on during a free/sample session.
  • Learn the thing that most coaches neglect, and that you absolutely need to do, in order for someone to feel great about hiring you.
  • Discover the #1 reason why a prospect doesn't become a client (it's not what you think) and what you can do to change that.
  • And much more!
In this interactive and content-rich presentation you will discover that "selling your coaching" is something you can learn, be good at and enjoy.

Michelle Schubnel is the President and owner of Coach & Grow R.I.C.H., a leading practice-building company for professional coaches. Since the year 2000, Coach & Grow R.I.C.H. has helped thousands of coaches worldwide get clients and build a thriving, rewarding and profitable coaching business. ICF Westchester Monthly Meeting
Tuesday, May 6, 2008; 6:00pm - 8:30pm

Topic: Emotional Intelligence: Your pathway to Personal Success

Presenter: David Severance

Experience shows that people who achieve exceptional results in life come from a wide variety of social and educational backgrounds, exhibit various skills and personal styles, and only rarely benefit from knowing all the "right people". So what is it that makes leaders and successful people so effective at achieving their personal and professional goals? Research shows that the single most important factor is one's Emotional Intelligence (EI).

What is Emotional Intelligence and how does it affect our individual and team results? How can leaders use EI to inspire and motivate others? How can EI be used by families to experience more satisfying and fulfilling relationships? This workshop will explore the fundamental concepts and applications of this powerful set of tools.

Location: Sam's of Gedney Way Restaurant, 50 Gedney Way, White Plains, NY 10605

Cost: (including dinner): $30 in advance, $35 at the door
