Message from the President
Our chapter continues to grow rapidly and has been getting the attention of the rest of the ICF global community! From a sleepy chapter two years ago we have moved up to the top 5 out of over 160 chapters along with the likes of Australia and the whole of the United Kingdom.

Look for a feature article in the April issue of Coach World that illustrates how we captured the top award for Community Outreach last year. And in June there will be an article that shares with other chapters how we have been able to raise funds internally without instituting a chapter membership fee. I told you we were a hot topic!

The explanation for why we are attracting more and more members is clear. We listen to your feedback and offer the value that you desire. Last year we focused on how to grow your business. After all, coaching is a profession, not a hobby. This year our focus has turned towards improving our core coaching competencies as described by the ICF.

Madeleine Homan Blanchard flew in from California to give us a Saturday workshop on the March 14. She covered competencies, such as the ability to be present and to connect; self-knowledge; building trust and respect; sharing information; creative brainstorming and much more. It was a real treat from one of our chapter's founding members.

At our regular meeting Coach/Author/Consultant Michael Charest came from Kansas, where he temporarily gave up viewing lots of cows, to present a workshop that focused on how to grow your coach business and prosper as a coach. The feedback was unanimously positive. You can see some of the comments posted on our website.

Do you know that you are naturally intuitive? We all are. Intuition is an integral part of a successful coaching practice, because as a Professional Coach you know being bold and blurting intuitive thoughts is a powerful experience that can move your client light years ahead. How would your life and your coaching practice flourish if you could access that intuitive ability on demand? Pay your taxes and come find out at our April 15 presentation by Tara Crawford Roth, Certified Intuitive Coach.

ICF-NYC Monthly Meeting
Wednesday, May 20, 2009; 6:00pm - 8:30pm

Topic: ICF Core Competencies In Action

Presenter: Ira Dressner, PhD, PCC, Founder of ICF-NYC

Are you planning to apply for an ACC or PCC Credential with the ICF? If not, find out why you should be. Ira Dressner, Founder of ICF-NYC and current Board Member on ICF National, will give you the scoop on what you need to know to pass the oral exam. Now is the time! Take advantage of this rare opportunity and:
  • Review the ICF core competencies with an expert.
  • Observe 2 volunteers, preferably who are going for their ACC/PCC credential, coach Ira.
  • Discover whether the core competencies were met, what the strong points of the coaching were, and what points need to be improved. Give your feedback on the experience and have your questions about learning the competencies and studying for the exam answered.
In order to make this a successful evening, we need two volunteers who don't know Ira Dressner to participate in the coaching session. Get your coaching techniques critiqued for free while coaches are paying hundreds of dollars for these evaluations! This is a fantastic learning experience and is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Those interested in volunteering should contact Laurie Lawson at laurie@eljnyc.com.

Ira Dressner, Ph.D., PCC, is an Energy Coach and ADHD Coach. Trained by Coach U, ADDCA, and other advanced coaching institutes, he has been an Assessor for ACC coaching candidates since July 2008. He is a Reiki and Karuna Keiki master and has been trained in Huna. His Ph.D. is in Public Administration and he is an LCSW/psychotherapist licensed in New York State and Arizona.
